09/13/09I love Google SketchUp. If you aren't already familiar with SketchUp, its a tool that let's you create 3D models of anything you like and share them (you can add them to Google Earth) with the world. SketchUp will democratize the 3D modeling world much like Photoshop did to photo production. A new era of creativity and innovation in design will be the result. People are redecorating their living rooms, design furniture and modeling cities. They are create a skateparks, then exporting animations to share on YouTube. A quick scan of the SketchUp blog reveled 38 posts in the Contests and Competitions category. The most recent, the Design It Shelter Competition is over; but users are encouraged to exercise their right to an anonymous online opinion by voting for their favorite shelter.
